The Allied Media Conference took place from June 17-June 21. Over 700 media activists gathered from around the country for the 12th annual event. The conference consisted of a series of workshops organized around tracks ranging from technical skill shares, to policy discussions. There were lots of opportuniteis to meet people doing amazing work, share and exchange films, art, stories and laughs.
We met up with Katrina and Leo, the two delegates from Venezuela, who participated in the spanish language track focused on networking spanish speaking community radio stations. While we were all a bit bus-lagged and overwhelmed by all the options, everyone seemed to find their niche.
Of particular interest were building radio transmitters, going on urban tours of detroit (to get a better sense of place), protest media workshops, mud stenciling and screen printing. We also went swimming.
